Jackie received her Bachelors of Arts in 2003 and her Masters of Arts in 2005 from the University of Central Florida in Communicative Disorders. She completed her Clinical Fellowship Year in a skilled nursing facility in St. Cloud, FL where she and her husband started their family. Jackie went on to explore a variety of other clinical settings including home health, private practice, hospital setting, public schools, and telepractice (online therapy). She and her family moved from her home state of Florida to Fredericksburg, VA in August 2012.
Since Jackie had the opportunity to work in diverse clinical settings, she has experience with all ages ranging from young toddlers to geriatric populations. She has provided therapy services to these populations including articulation, language delays, alternative augmentative communication (AAC), dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic deficits, and aphasia- just to name a few. Through the public schools, she was trained in evidence-based practices including Language Reading Connection, Read-It Again PK!, and Story Grammar Marker. She had the privilege to work in center schools with Autism Spectrum Disorder units and worked closely with parents, teachers and paraprofessionals.
Jackie enjoys being a Speech Language Pathologist because she enjoys helping people and watching them succeed. Communication is something that people without difficulties may take for granted. Communication disabilities not only affect the person with it but everyone he/she comes in contact with. Jackie identifies herself as a “flashlight” because she wants to be that tool to lead her patients/ clients out of the dark and into the light of communication. Jackie is delighted to be part of the Therapy Toolbox family.
